Dog Training by Krissy McDaniel
Krissy McDaniel (Head Dog Trainer)
Krissy McDaniel is a professional dog trainer who is a Portsmouth native. She has been employed at Shawnee Animal Clinic for the last 9 years and has 6 years hands-on experience with dog training. Krissy will meet with you and assess your pet. Then she will personalize a training package based on the pet’s specific need and the owner’s budget. Her focus is on shaping your pet’s behavior, to help you recognize how and why your pet’s behavior may be abnormal, and to teach you how to understand and effectively work with your dog. Krissy’s goal is to help create a long-lasting, healthy relationship between you and your dog.
Krissy has a bachelors degree in Art and Psychology and has worked alongside Cheri Wolfe Lucas who was a former Master Trainer with Cesar Milan. During her time with Cheri Lucas, Krissy says that she learned to become more relaxed and confident in her training, allowing the animal to gradually learn commands without forcing instruction on them. “Training with Cheri taught me how to develop my raw, intuitive talent with training dogs.” Since she is a member of the SAC staff, Krissy’s trainees benefit from on-site training at our facility. The environment can be distracting, which means that during their training, they are already introduced to situations that will heighten their senses and they learn how to work through these situations. Krissy uses a method of training that incorporates dog psychology. “I believe in building a foundation that consists of new commands, structure, and relationship skills using a balanced approach and a calm, healthy state of mind.”
Krissy has also been a professional trainer specializing in Paso Fino horse since age 18. She enjoys spending her free time with her 13 dogs, 9 horses, 4 cats, and snake. Call (740) 353-5758 today to speak with one of our representatives about dog training.
